We are hiring a Java Developer for a permanent role based in Burgess Hill, UK (hybrid – 3 days onsite). This is an exciting opportunity to work on microservice-based application development using Java 8+, Vert.x, and Kafka.
This role suits someone passionate about Java programming, reactive systems, and delivering clean, testable code in a collaborative team environment.
What You’ll Do:
* Design, develop, and maintain microservices using Java 8+ (not Spring Boot – we use Vert.x for reactive programming)
* Work on event-driven systems with Kafka or similar streaming platforms
* Use PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases to support backend services
* Write BDD test cases using Cucumber
* Collaborate via GitHub and CI/CD using Jenkins
* Exposure to or willingness to learn GoLang is highly desirable
What We’re Looking For:
* Strong experience with Java 8+ and microservice-based architecture
* Solid understanding of Vert.x or other reactive programming frameworks (we don’t use Spring Boot)
* Working knowledge of Kafka or any streaming platform (development/integration)
* Proficient in SQL and PostgreSQL (plus some exposure to NoSQL)
* Experience writing automated test cases using Cucumber (BDD)
* Familiarity with GitHub and Jenkins for version control and CI/CD pipelines
* Eagerness to learn or basic knowledge of GoLang
