The IOO Technology Projects team is one of the two teams that fall under the C&IS GSD IOO Technology umbrella.
The Projects team is responsible for new client technical integration, as well as technical change for existing clients.
The IOO Technology Projects Lead provides guidance on the development, specification and communication on new client integration and BAU client change for the IOO platform.
The person in this role provides in-depth technical consultation to IOO partners, clients, and management to develop the highest level of solutions.
The successful candidate will be part of a global team that provides solutioning and warranty technical support to a large and diverse user base comprised of both Northern Trust clients and internal users around the Globe.
The candidate must be able to work independently within a team and be able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment.
They would be expected to work effectively with clients and a range of other technical and business teams to provide speedy resolution and answers to technical, as well as function issues and questions.
This is a non-managerial role.
Competencies and responsibilities:
1. Technical expert without management responsibilities, seen as key advisor on significant decisions for IOO Technology Projects.
2. As subject area expert, provide comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at the highest technical level.
3. Act as first point of escalation for day-to-day queries, and serves as a liaison to related areas.
4. Perform relatively complex, extensive, high profile activities e.g. direct interaction with committees and more senior management.
5. Demonstrate excellent analytical, consultative, communication and judgment skills.
6. Ability to lead projects and/or train lower-level staff.
7. Focus on maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures in the function, building towards increased expertise.
8. Carry out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult.
9. Keep abreast of emerging industry trends.
10. Maintain regular contact with peers internal and external to firm, including client contacts.
11. Assist in development of technical requirements where required.
12. Work on additional initiatives outside of BAU client change and implementations to help improve current processes such as refining the support intake process.
13. Perform platform support activities including in-depth analysis and strategic resolutions.
The ideal candidate should possess a fair amount of the following:
14. Knowledge of enterprise computer application technology design (databases, infrastructure, and networks) usually gained through related experience, is required. Business analysis and problem-solving skills are needed for understanding and ensuring data integrity.
15. Good documentation skills are required to draft and update specification and support documentation.
16. Strong communication skills are required for client interaction and partner mentoring.
17. University or College degree in Computer Science or related discipline
18. Proven experience in a development or technical support role, most of which in the Financial Services industry.
19. Experience with most IOO core technologies: AS400, z/OS, DB2, Oracle, Java, MQ, Solace, Kafka, Snowflake, B2Bi, Control-M.
20. Strong understanding of technology architecture concepts, including networking, storage, middleware, databases, cloud, and data security.
