Structural Engineer - Property Consultancy
We are supporting a multidisciplined, multi-office property consultancy in its search for an experienced structural engineer to join its large office in the West Midlands.
This office has an established group of engineers and consultants from various disciplines. The successful candidate will work closely with other staff to deliver innovative, sustainable, and cost-efficient buildings.
The firm works on structures across sectors including education, aerospace, commercial, residential, and manufacturing. Serving clients across the Midlands, this role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on the local community.
Duties
You will be responsible for providing a wide range of Structural Engineering services, including:
* Preparation of conceptual and outline designs for structural schemes
* Carrying out detailed design calculations in accordance with Eurocodes
* Managing technicians in producing detailed design drawings and tender specifications
* Liaising with the design team and clients throughout projects, monitoring progress and quality during construction
* Conducting structural surveys, analyzing structural defects, and advising on remediation if needed
* Preparing detailed design drawings and specifications for tenders and construction information for contractors
* Visiting sites during construction to monitor progress and advise contractors
The role requires working independently under the guidance and support of the Team Manager.
Required Experience
* Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken
* Experience in structural design with materials such as concrete, steel, masonry, and timber
* Working towards or having achieved MIStructE/MICE Chartered membership
* Experience with finite element software packages like TEKLA Structures, SCIA, Robot, etc.
* Ideally, experience with Structural Revit
