About the Role
As the Year 2 Class Teacher, you will take responsibility for a Year 2 class, delivering engaging and structured lessons in line with the National Curriculum. You will support pupils as they prepare for end-of-Key-Stage assessments in a developmentally appropriate and supportive way.
You will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports both academic progress and emotional wellbeing. Working closely with teaching assistants, KS1 colleagues, and senior leaders, you will ensure all pupils are supported to achieve their full potential.
This role would suit an experienced KS1 teacher or a confident Early Career Teacher with strong phonics and early literacy experience.

Your responsibilities as a Year 2 Teacher will include:
• Planning and delivering high-quality lessons across the Year 2 curriculum
• Delivering systematic phonics and supporting early reading development
• Teaching writing, spelling, grammar, and mathematics effectively
• Preparing pupils for end-of-Key-Stage assessments in a calm and supportive way
• Assessing, tracking, and monitoring pupil progress
• Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL
• Creating a well-managed, inclusive classroom environment
• Promoting positive behaviour, independence, and confidence
• Supporting pupils’ personal and social development
• Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues
• Building strong relationships with parents and carers
• Contributing to staff meetings and professional development

The Ideal Candidate
The school is seeking a Year 2 Teacher who demonstrates:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching in Key Stage 1
• Strong knowledge of phonics and early literacy

• A nurturing, consistent, and organised approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
