Overview
We are looking to recruit a Phlebotomist to join our team. The post holder is required to collect blood samples by venepuncture methods from patients in the community across the East of Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will work under the Locality Manager, support their team and organisation to achieve the Trust's values, and ensure a clean, comfortable and safe environment for service users.

Responsibilities
* To obtain venous blood samples from patients in accordance with trust guidelines.
* To label specimen bottles accurately and prepare samples for transporting to the relevant laboratory.
* To conduct all procedures with awareness of individual patient needs and confidentiality.
* To record appropriately in patients\' electronic records in accordance with trust policy.
* To approach the patient with courtesy and provide an appropriate explanation of the procedure.
* Obtain appropriate consent for the procedure being carried out.
* Recognise and respond appropriately to an emergency situation.
* Ensure stock levels are maintained for the phlebotomy team.
Education & Qualifications
Essential
* Good standard of general education including English and Maths to GCSE grade C or equivalent.
* Evidence of willingness to undertake relevant study.
* NVQ 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
Desirable
* First Aid, Health Care related courses.
* Previous Community Phlebotomy Experience.
* Relevant qualification in venepuncture.
Experience
Essential
* Experience in health, social, education or voluntary setting.
* Previous experience with adults & young people in the community.
* Awareness of the need for confidentiality.
* Experience of caring for adults & young people with special needs.
Desirable
* Ability to contribute to the development of new clinics/services.

* Ability to establish and maintain verbal communication.
* Ability to maintain accurate, timely and contemporaneous records.
