We are looking for a passionate and experienced Therapeutic Deputy Manager to join our team at Coven Care Homes.
This is a leadership role within our children's residential services, supporting young people who have experienced trauma, emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), social, emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH), and learning disabilities (LD).
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in leading our two homes (2 bed homes) and ensuring the highest standards of therapeutic, trauma-informed care. You will deputise fully in the Manager's absence and play a key role in shaping a safe, nurturing, and resilient environment where children can thrive.Working Pattern: You will spend one day each week on shift, leading practice and supporting young people directly, and three days focused on management and administration duties such as supervisions, rota planning, paperwork oversight, and compliance tasks.

Main Responsibilities
Deputise fully in the absence of the Registered Manager
Supervise and develop staff, ensuring trauma-informed and therapeutic practice is maintained
Lead one shift per week to remain actively engaged in practice and model standards to the team (possibly more to cover the home)
Spend three days per week focused on management and administration, including supervisions, rota planning, audits, reports, and compliance tasks
Support staff to manage challenging behaviour with empathy, structure, and creativity
Oversee care planning, placement plans, and therapeutic strategies for young people
Promote a therapeutic culture where children feel safe, valued, and understood
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, supporting their emotional and social development
Take part in the weekend on-call rota and provide shift cover when required (including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins)
Lead by example during incidents or crises, supporting staff to remain calm and consistent
Ensure safeguarding standards and regulations are always met
Contribute to audits, inspections, and compliance processes, ensuring the home meets Ofsted requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Willingness and ability to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management within required timescales
At least 4 years' experience in residential childcare
At least 3 years in a supervisory or senior role
Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, and child development
Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to lead in challenging situations
Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends, sleep-ins, and on-call duties
Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or working towards)
* Training in therapeutic models of care or behaviour management (e.g., Team Teach, PACE)
