We are seeking a professional, enthusiastic, and reliable individual to work as a Medical Receptionist at our practice in Hawick. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing excellent customer service and contributing to smooth administrative operations within the practice.
This role offers an opportunity to work in a friendly environment where attention to detail and compassion are highly valued. This is a demanding role in a fast paced environment which requires excellent communication and organisational skills.
The successful candidate will undertake a range of administrative and patient-facing duties, including:
1. Receiving, assisting, and directing patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service in a courteous and efficient manner
2. Handling telephone and face-to-face enquiries from patients, secondary care, and external agencies, and directing them appropriately
3. Booking appointments for GPs, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, and Physiotherapists
4. Issuing repeat prescriptions in line with practice guidelines
5. Managing correspondence, including scanning letters onto patient records
6. Accurately inputting clinical data, including outcomes from hospital clinics and practice appointments
7. Copying and scanning health records in accordance with GDPR
8. Supporting practice filing, storage, and archiving procedures
9. Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times in line with Data Protection and Information Security Policies
10. Using clinical systems such as EMIS (transferring to Vision in Sep 26) and Docman on a daily basis
Hours of work: 32 Hours Per week (4 Days).
Successful candidates will have a base site (Hawick) but the role may very occasionally involve cross site working as per practice need.
