Job Overview
Part Time Band 3 Health Care Assistant to join the nursing team on the Children’s Unit.
The Children’s Unit consists of 19 inpatient beds, including 1 High Dependency bed and 3 Enhanced Care beds, plus 6 assessment unit beds, 6 medical/surgical day case beds and 2 oncology beds.
Main Duties
* Deliver evidence‑based, high‑quality clinical care focused on the patient’s direct needs.
* Assist registered nurses/practitioners in providing delegated care.
* Meet the holistic needs of individuals in collaboration with other disciplines.
* Supervise patients and support their future care plan.
* Assist in the induction of junior healthcare assistants and apprenticeships.
* Provide elements of health and social care within the assessed competence level.

Qualifications and Knowledge
* Essential: QCF Level 3 or equivalent qualifications/experience.
* Essential: NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care related subjects or equivalent.
* Essential: Good knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
* Desirable: Familiarity with the All Wales HCSW induction framework.
Experience
* Essential: Experience working as a Health and Social Care Worker (HCSW) without direct supervision in a clinical setting, under a qualified practitioner.
* Essential: Good understanding of risk assessment and management.
Skills
* Essential: Ability to provide wound care using aseptic technique, ATSS, phlebotomy and basic observations.
* Essential: Clear and accurate communication.
* Essential: Adaptability to new and changing circumstances.
* Essential: Ability to work alone under supervision and seek clinical advice when needed.
Desirable Skills
* Recording vital signs, blood glucose, venepuncture, routine ECG, urine testing.
* Other specific clinical skills relevant to the role.
* Knowledge of clinic activities.
* Welsh language proficiency.
