In-house Commercial Counsel
*3-5 PQE
*London-based with 1-day a week in-office requirement
*General Commercial role working in a collegiate team of 6
*Experience working in-house required
You'll sit within the Legal, Governance and Risk team, reporting to the Head of Corporate and Commercial Law. Working with complex contracts and regulatory change, we expect the team to stay ahead of regulatory requirements.
Role responsibilities
* Give clear, commercially focused legal advice on UK and Ireland matters, covering contracts, competition, IP and data protection including AI
* Work with colleagues from commercial teams covering product categories, credit, insurance, to colleagues in IT, Procurement and Finance on complex matters
* Partnering with external counsel when needed, you'll make sure legal risk is managed
* Review, draft, and negotiate contracts at all levels, taking ownership of projects from start to finish and keeping the right people in the loop
* Advise on strategy, structure and legal risk across a range of deals
* Support the business through regulatory change, developing good practice and advising teams on what's coming and why it matters
* Support process improvements within the department, finding smarter ways to deliver great legal advice at pace
Role requirements
* Qualified solicitor with a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience in commercial law, ideally in IT, retail or mobile sectors
* Experience of working on commercial contracts (particularly in the IT or retail sectors)
* Experience working in-house, at a law firm, or both
