Overview
We are looking to recruit a motivated and professional Paralegal I to join our Property and Commercial Law Team within Legal Services. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high‑quality legal support across the Council while developing your skills within a busy, friendly, and well‑regarded in‑house legal service.
The role
You will support solicitors and legal colleagues by carrying out a range of paralegal and administrative duties, including:
* Preparing, drafting, and reviewing legal documents, including agreements, notices, licences, and standard‑form contracts.
* Supporting casework through legal research, organising case files, collating information, and preparing court bundles.
* Assisting with property and commercial transactions, including disposals, acquisitions, easements, and related conveyancing matters.
* Managing documentation for execution and ensuring processes are completed accurately and in line with Council procedures.
* Undertaking routine legal processes, including issuing notices, preparing applications, and assisting with procedural steps.
* Ensuring work complies with relevant legislation, case law, guidance, and best practice.
* Providing clear, timely, and accurate advice within your area of responsibility.
About you
You will have:
* ACiLEX Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice, or equivalent relevant qualification or experience.
* Experience of drafting legal documents and undertaking legal administrative tasks.
* Knowledge of legal processes, legislation, and procedures relevant to property and commercial law or a related area.
* Strong research, analytical, and organisational skills.
* The ability to communicate clearly, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
* A professional and proactive approach to supporting colleagues and service users.
