Due to an increase in workload within their Civil Engineering, Highways and Construction divisions, our client, a top Contractor in the UK are looking for a Hire Controller to support Owned and Hired Plant within their central Birmingham Office. Duties are below: * Taking orders for plant hire by email, phone and through a central system portal * Offering advice to site with regards to the type of assets which may be suitable for the job. In some instances the hire controller will be engaging with the specialist suppliers to facilitate further advice or site visits * Timely placement of orders with the supply chain * Ensuring all health and safety legislation and minimum HSEQ standards are met * Updating the Microsoft 4PS system with relevant details * Ad-hoc reporting for the field * Managing damage and loss to reduce the commercial impact for sites * Proactive off-hire – ensuring the sites return the hired items when they are finished with an item of plant * Gaining quotes for high value items, specialist plant where VW do not have a rate card * Negotiating as appropriate etc. * Reducing transport costs through grouping of orders * Assisting sites with items which are required at short notice * Consulting with sites and supply chain to organise mobilisation of new large contracts * Off-hiring, de-mobilising sites and site clearances To be considered you will ideally have previous experience operating as a hire controller and knowledge of construction and/ or plant is required. You must also be Computer literate and comfortable to use Microsoft office software and Microsoft Dynamics 4PS system (experience of this is not essential). This role is customer facing so good interpersonal skills are required also. In return, the successful candidate will be offered a top day rate and immediate start with a long term contract on offer.
