It's our 40th anniversary as a registered charity!

Are you an experienced, enthusiastic and compassionate leader ready to make a meaningful difference?

Canterbury Oast Trust (COT) is a dynamic and forward-thinking charitable trust supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism across Kent and East Sussex to live independently and take control of their lives. Since the mid-1980s, we’ve been empowering the people we support to achieve happiness, individuality, and meaningful participation in society.

We’re looking for a full‑time, permanent Senior Supported Living Support Worker to join our highly experienced and inspiring team in our Supported Living Services.

In this role, you’ll lead and support our team whilst helping the people we support to live the lives they choose through independence, dignity, choice and achievement. Our Supported Living Services provide individually tailored care packages, with each person having their own tenancy agreement in small, unique family‑style homes.

Hours

* 162.5 hours per month
* Shifts are based on a Person‑Centred Approach, with a mix of long days, sleep‑ins and weekends
* Primarily based in New Romney, with flexibility to cover our services in Ashford and Woodchurch when required

What will I be doing?

As a Senior Supported Living Support Worker, you’ll take on a leadership role within the team whilst continuing to provide hands‑on support to the people we support.

Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:

* Supervising and motivating team members, providing coaching, training and support to help them thrive
* Undertaking staff supervisions, appraisals, and return to work interviews
* Carrying out quality assurance audits, including medication management, daily logs, risk assessments and care plans
* Supporting the people we support in all aspects of their daily lives in accordance with their care contract
* Accompanying and driving tenants to services, community visits and appointments
* Conducting regular health and safety checks on household appliances, vehicles, fire equipment and specialist equipment
* Identifying training needs and delivering in‑house training to staff
* Supporting Link workers and providing induction training and Care Certificate assessment for new staff
* Maintaining all appropriate records and written reports
* Addressing minor conflicts or issues before they escalated, fostering a positive environment

What we offer

* Salary: £14.14 per hour (£27,573 per annum) plus shifts and weekend allowances
* Annual leave: 22 days plus statutory bank holidays, with additional leave after 3, 4, and 5 years of continuous service
* Paid DBS check renewed every three years
* Contributory pension scheme
* Healthcare Cash Plan on completion of your 6‑month probationary period
* Excellent training and development opportunities – we’re committed to helping you grow
* Free entry to the Rare Breeds Centre for two adults and two children

What we’re looking for

* NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (held for a minimum of 2 years) or Level 2 Vocational Diploma in Health & Social Care
* Experience of working in residential services or domiciliary care with people with learning disabilities
* Experience of key worker responsibilities, care plans and care reviews
* GCSE English/Maths or equivalent
* Strong supervisory skills and understanding of person‑centred care
* Full manual driving licence (held for at least one year), age 21+

Please note: Post holders who do not hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care will be expected to achieve this within two years of appointment as a contractual requirement.

About our commitment to you

All appointments are subject to:

* Proof of eligibility to work in the UK

* Two satisfactory references (one of which must be from your current or most recent employer)
* A complete and detailed employment history
* Full manual driving licence (held for at least one year), age 21+

Ready to make a difference?

If you believe you have the right values, behaviours and leadership skills to help us empower the people we support, we’d love to hear from you.
