Technical Architect
6 Month Contract
Location: Home / Andover (Hybrid)
Salary: £700 - £750 per day (Inside IR35)
We are looking to recruit an SC Cleared Technical Architect for a leading technology consultancy on an initial 6 month contract. The successful candidate will design and deliver complex, large-scale technology solutions that meet both business and technical needs, ensuring architectural integrity and delivering to time, cost, and quality standards.
This is a hands-on, senior technical role where you will influence solution design, drive adoption of best practice, and mentor teams while working closely with clients in highly regulated environments.
This is a hybrid role and you will be required to work 2 days a week at customer site in Andover. Due to the nature of the work valid SC Clearance is required.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical design of large and highly complex systems, ensuring quality, performance, and compliance.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the project lifecycle to embed architectural considerations into all phases of delivery.
Provide technical guidance, governance, and mentorship to development and delivery teams.
Evaluate technical designs, changes, and proposals, making recommendations and assessing associated risks.
Develop technology roadmaps and evaluate emerging technologies to inform future solutions.
Act as a technical authority during client engagements, proof-of-concepts, and pre-sales activities.
Establish and enforce architectural principles, standards, and best practices, including security and compliance considerations.
Support internal capability development, including mentoring junior staff and promoting knowledge sharing.
Experience & Skills Required
Technical & Architectural Expertise
Extensive experience designing and delivering complex technology solutions, ideally in public sector, government, or other highly regulated environments.
Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, NAF, or Zachman.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and DevOps/CI-CD practices .
Strong understanding of Web Applications, Microservices, APIs, authentication/authorization protocols, and data architecture .
Knowledge of secure software development practices, GDPR, OWASP, and NCSC cloud security principles.
Experience delivering AI-based solutions, real-time data integration, or IoT solutions is advantageous.
Consultancy & Leadership Skills
Excellent communication skills, able to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience providing guidance to senior stakeholders and influencing solution design across multiple teams.
Track record of mentoring and developing internal teams, promoting best practices and capability growth.
Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to provide innovative solutions in complex environments.
Essential
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience in highly regulated environments (government, defence, or equivalent).
