The Department: The Economics & Business Department at Northwood College has expanded significantly in recent years. From September 2025, we introduced GCSE Business, which has proven very popular, with over half the year group choosing the subject. Students will sit their first exams in Summer 2027. The Department also teaches financial literacy through PSHE and supports Junior School students in developing their understanding of money within maths lessons. As part of the Sixth Form Extend programme, we offer courses on topics such as Famous Economists, the rise of China in the EV market and debates on re-nationalising utilities. Courses are flexible, evolving each year to suit student interests and teachers' expertise. Additionally, we run the GDST Lead programme in Year 12, in partnership with the LSE and 22 sister schools, helping students develop an enterprising mindset and employability skills by bringing a social-impact business idea to market.
