Post - Consultant Anaesthetist with a specialist interest in Regional and Orthopaedics
We are a large and friendly department with over 65 Consultants, 11 SASs, up to 35 Trainees, and post CCT Fellows. We are proud to be a MDHU, Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit, with 4 Military Consultants and various Military trainees. The department hosts 4 qualified AAs in a bespoke program, along with 3.5 WTE Acute Pain Nurses, Perioperative team, 20 WTE Preoperative Assessment Nurses, and administrative staff.
Our department is known for being cohesive, innovative, and providing excellent education and support. We were among the first in the UK to achieve ACSA accreditation from the RCOA, reaccredited in 2023. We also received commendations during a GIRFT visit for our Surgery School and Surgical High Care Unit.

Main duties of the job
The job plan is for 10.25 PAs, with 7.5 DCC, typically 3 clinical days per week, plus 2 SPA and participation in the on-call rota (0.75 PA). The timetable includes fixed and float sessions, with details to be agreed upon before start.
The department operates a 2-tier Consultant-led on-call rota, Category A, with a combined frequency of 1 in 20. The second on-call works evenings and weekends, mostly from home, with infrequent calls. The first on-call is the primary contact from home.

Qualifications
* Full GMC registration and License to Practice
* Primary Medical Qualification (e.g., MBChB)
* Higher degree (e.g., FRCA)
* Entry onto GMC Specialist Register via CCT or CESR within 6 months of award
* Desirable: EDRA, MD, BSc, MRCP, subspecialty fellowship, external prizes
Experience
* 8 relevant Higher Training modules
* 2 relevant Advanced Training modules
* Completion of all stage 3 HALOs or equivalent
* 12 months SIA or equivalent
* Desirable: Additional modules, fellowships, OOPE, OOPT, and additional SIA
