The role

Assistant Principal – Behaviour and Attitudes

An exciting senior leadership opportunity has arisen at Ormiston Denes Academy. We are seeking a passionate and experienced leader who is ambitious, dedicated and determined to make a difference to students while upholding the highest standards as an Assistant Principal with responsibility for Behaviour and Attitudes.

The successful candidate will have a strong pastoral background, with proven experience of how they have made an impact on data and processes relating to student behaviour and will be able to uphold and continue to develop a well-embedded culture of behaviour and attitudes across the academy, so that all students embody the academy expectations of Ready, Responsible, Respectful, Kind and Proud.

You will be leading a well-established team of Year Leaders and Pastoral Managers, offering support, mentoring and advice and guidance where needed, and undertake responsibilities as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

If you have a strong background in behaviour, inclusion or SEND, we would love to hear from you.

About Us

At Ormiston Denes Academy, we believe education extends beyond the confines of classrooms and textbooks. Our academy is a vibrant, dedicated community where every day is an opportunity for growth, and every individual is encouraged to become the best version of themselves. We understand that potential is limitless, and with the right support and guidance, challenges can be transformed into achievements.

Why work for Ormiston Academies Trust

Our vision is for a school system where every child thrives, regardless of background. Our people are at the heart of our approach – they are our greatest asset. We exist to provide the best learning opportunities every day, in every school, for every child. It is the people and teams in our Trust who make this a reality and ensure we have the greatest impact. If you join us at Ormiston, whatever your role, you can be sure of a role with purpose and meaning.

  • The opportunity to build on the legacy of those who came before – being part of one of the longest standing Trusts, created with the sole purpose of enabling children and young people to thrive.
  • Working for a Trust nationally recognised for its impact on disadvantaged children – a rewarding, stimulating career where staff are challenged to be the best they can be, for the pupils we are proud to serve.
  • Being part of a team and community where you belong – receiving bespoke and holistic support from a well-resourced and ambitious network of experts and professionals that work at the heart of communities.
  • A supportive environment to grow your career – an extensive professional development programme, alongside flexible working arrangements and generous benefits.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • A creative, inspirational and well-qualified teacher with outstanding behaviour management skills and excellent pastoral, inclusion or SEND knowledge.
  • Able to maintain standards and drive continuous improvement across the academy in all areas relating to behaviour and attitudes.
  • Confident in the development and use of systems and data tracking.
  • Able to effectively communicate with students, parents and staff.
  • Keen to make a difference to the education and overall wellbeing of our students.

At Ormiston Denes Academy we place high value on staff development and with us you would receive a comprehensive induction and training package, along with:

  • Development for staff through nationally recognised training courses.
  • Access to a range of resources and opportunities through our Academy Trust.
  • Guidance, advice, and support from the senior leadership team who all want to make a positive difference to the education of all students at Ormiston Denes Academy.

This is the perfect time to become a part of Team Denes. Our Academy has been tenaciously driving improvements for our students and our staff, and this was recognised in March 2025 when Ofsted rated us as “good” in all categories and commented that “staff are highly positive about working here”.

If, like us, you are committed to making the biggest difference to children and want to be part of a community that lives its core values of aspiration, integrity and respect, the Ormiston Denes Academy could be the perfect place for you.

We welcome visits to our Academy from prospective applicants. To arrange a visit or an informal discussion with Charlotte Leeming – HR & Compliance Partner, please email cleeming@ormistondenes.co.uk or call 01502 509921.

Closing date for applications is Friday 3rd July 2026 at 9:00am. Please note that the Academy withholds the right to withdraw the advert at any time or interview suitable candidates before the closing date.

Ormiston Denes Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. Ormiston Academies Trust embraces diversity and promotes equality of opportunity.

All successful appointments will be subject to suitability checks in accordance with KCSIE, including identity, Right to Work, qualifications, online searches, prohibition check, two references and enhanced DBS check including Children’s Barred List.
