Overview

Job Title: Electrical Engineering Assessor (Training Advisor)

Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD

Department: NSG Construction & Engineering

Reporting to: Engineering Apprenticeship Coordinator

Salary: Up to £34,226 per annum

Annual Leave: 30 days per annum plus bank holidays

Contractual hours: 37 hours per week

Teaching hours: 864 hours per annum

Basis: Full time, Permanent

Pension: Teachers Pension Scheme

In this rewarding role, you’ll take charge of a dynamic caseload of learners, guiding them through their training journey and helping them achieve recognised qualifications — including full Apprenticeship standards. You’ll help shape inspiring learning programmes and deliver impactful assessments that truly make a difference. Working closely with employers, you’ll play a key role in unlocking potential, breaking down barriers, and supporting learners to succeed every step of the way.


What You’ll Be Doing

As an Electrical Engineer Assessor, you will:

* Plan, conduct and participate in induction and initial assessment of learners to identify realistic learning priorities and, in liaison with the employer, develop individual learning plans and agree realistic completion targets. This will include ensuring that employers have a full understanding of the requirement for Apprentices to complete off the job training.
* Develop, manage and maintain good relationships with external partners, local employers and appropriate agencies to recruit learners.
* Provide information, advice and guidance to learners and employers to promote learning and timely achievement of the agreed learning aims and SMART objectives.
* Assess knowledge, skills and behaviours, and the delivery and assessment of Functional Skills and competencies within the NVQ programme.
* To maintain a minimum caseload of learners. Assist them to achieve NVQ qualifications and the Apprenticeship Standard and prepare them for End Point Assessment.


What We’re Looking For

We seek candidates who:

* Must be a qualified Engineer - Essential
* English and Maths GCSE grade 4/C or equivalent – Essential
* TAQA or A1 assessor qualification, or willing to work towards - Desirable
* Teaching qualification, or willing to work towards – Desirable
* Award in Internal Verification or V1, or willing to work towards – Desirable
