I'm working with an award-winning nuclear solutions business based in Preston that is currently recruiting for 23 mechanical engineers, broken down as follows:
* 11x Senior Mechanical Engineer - £48,000 to £61,500
* 12x Principal Mechanical Engineer - £61,500 to £80,000
You'll be working on civil decommissioning projects in the nuclear sector, such as:
* RepU Project - Reprocessed uranium in the UK, primarily at the Sellafield reprocessing plant
* TMF Project - The UK Tails Management Facility in Capenhurst, Chester, processing depleted uranium hexafluoride from Urenco's European enrichment facilities
* The FED Project - Assessing the potential for domestic manufacturing to support the construction of small pebble-bed nuclear reactors
* The BEP Project - The Box Encapsulation Plant at Sellafield, managing and storing Magnox reactor waste
* The MSSS Project - Magnox Swarf Storage Silo, focusing on removing waste and ensuring safe containment at Sellafield
* The PFCS Project - Designing and installing a complex system for waste retrieval and transport, including shielded access doors, robotic arms, and reprocessing plants
Main skills and experience required:
* Prior experience in mechanical engineering (essential)
* Experience in mechanical/manual handling (essential)
* Bulk powder transfer/handling (nice to have for principal)
* Experience with electrolysers, piping, hazardous chemical handling, high-hazard maintenance (nice to have for principal)
* Nuclear sector experience (nice to have)
* Experience using Autodesk Inventor (nice to have)
* Mechanical engineering degree: BEng or MEng (nice to have)
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) (nice to have)
These roles are ideal for experienced mechanical engineers seeking larger responsibilities in nuclear projects. The roles are hybrid, requiring 3 days per week on-site, and candidates must be eligible for SC clearance.
