Job Summary

This role initially involves working at the Additional Support Unit (ASU) in Exeter for adults with learning disabilities, and from mid-2025, at the new Regional Learning Disability and Autism Unit in Dawlish.
Main Duties
1. Lead and manage the inpatient unit, including nursing staff, students, and support staff, and oversee the unit in the absence of the service manager.
2. Work a 24-hour flexible rota.
3. Adhere to NICE and NMC guidelines, trust policies, and safeguarding protocols.
4. Contribute as a proactive member of the multidisciplinary team, with knowledge of relevant legal frameworks such as the Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
5. Assist in setting standards, promoting change, and developing nursing practices, including supervision and audits.
6. Deputize for the service manager when necessary.
7. Ensure high standards of nursing care in line with evidence-based practices and trust policies.
8. Collaborate with carers, relatives, and other agencies to promote mental health, wellbeing, independence, and community inclusion.
Qualifications
* Professional degree-level Mental Health / RNLD Nursing qualification and registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
