Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Developmental Band 5 Staff Nurse to develop into Band 6 Senior Mental Health Nurse or Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Longreach House, an adult acute mental health unit based in Redruth, Cornwall. Our emphasis is on providing a therapeutic environment, offering a holistic approach to treatment in a safe and supported space that promotes rehabilitation and recovery. We work with a range of professionals, carer and community staff to ensure effective delivery of care and a planned, safe and timely discharge.
Main duties of the job
* Take a leadership role on the ward, deputising for the ward manager when required.
* Oversee the day‑to‑day running of the ward and provide high‑quality clinical leadership to the in‑patient multi‑disciplinary team through supervision and direction.
* Work rotational shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, with a flexible approach to ensure seamless whole‑service delivery.
* Ensure safe and effective delivery of care and compliance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Code of Professional Conduct.

Person Specification
Essential
* Current professional registration – NMC
* Professional qualification – RMN, RNLD, RGN
* Experience working with patients with complex and challenging needs
Desirable
* To act as an assessor for learners, having the mentoring qualification or willingness to obtain it and attend mentorship updates as required.
Skills
* Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written communication
* Up‑to‑date clinical skills in providing mental health care to patients in hospital
