About the Role

Uplift360 UK is looking for an enthusiastic Process Technician (Chemical / Mechanical) to join our sustainable materials company. The individual will be a key member of the Uplift360 research and development team, supporting the scale-up & industrialisation of our novel chemical recycling technology.

Your core responsibility will be supporting the scale up from laboratory to a pilot plant. As part of this, you will support in the process development, plant design &, build. You will also work closely with the R&D team, including performing laboratory-based experiments and fast-paced materials research for the development of circular economic materials processes, including composite and advanced materials recycling. You will report directly to the Chemical Engineer, working closely with other team members.

The right candidate will be enthusiastic about fighting climate change, circular economics, and material technology, with a drive for finding solutions to complex problems.

About Uplift360

We are a cleantech company developing chemical based technology to reuse and recycle advanced materials.

Through the development of novel low-energy and low temperature chemical systems, Uplift360's ground-breaking circular economic technologies are creating new alternatives to incineration or landfill for advanced materials. This reduces waste, produces low carbon materials and lowers cost of recycling to make reuse and recycling applicable to the widest range of composite and advanced materials.

We operate in multiple domains including, automotive, defence, aerospace and renewable energy. Working with a range of high value composites that contain reinforcing fibres including carbon fibre, aramids, UHMWPE, and glass fibre.

As a Process Technician, your key accountabilities will include:

* Supporting the scale-up of our technology from laboratory to pilot plant.
* Assist in the development of prototypes and the safe testing of new processes, ensuring minimal environmental impact.
* Operate and monitor chemical processing units including reactors, pumps, driers, valves and control systems.
* Carry out regular inspections and checks on process parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates, recording data.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives.
* Support mechanical process modifications.
* Take and prepare samples for testing.
* Create documentation including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training manuals.
* Involvement in lab and scale up health and safety protocols, such as risk assessments and HAZOPS, ensuring compliance.
* Performing laboratory-based scientific research on advanced materials and composite recyclability.
* Liaising with suppliers and procuring equipment, ensuring value for money and that equipment works to its specification and to appropriate capacities.
* Managing internal and external projects, scheduling and coordinating the work to deadlines.
* Assist in troubleshooting process deviations and maintenance support.
* Supporting Uplift360 leadership with research tasks, being able to change the direction/focus of work quickly, if required.
* Promoting Uplift360's vision, mission and core values internally and externally.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Personal Qualities:

* A-levels or BTEC in the sciences with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial research, manufacturing or commercial role

Or

* HNC/HND in Chemical/Process Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience.

* Industry experience in large scale and/or pilot plant process optimisation

* Knowledge and/or experience in polymer chemistry, reactor processes and/or chemical recycling technologies.
* Possess outstanding organisational and time management skills.
* Proven excellent verbal and written English.
* Have a passion for sustainability and circularity in technology innovation.
* Be located within and/or be willing to relocate to Bristol or nearby town/city.
* Be a self-starter, comfortable in operating in fast-paced and uncertain environments.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

* Experience/knowledge of advanced materials, fibre reinforced polymer composites, or technical fibres (e.g. carbon/glass/para-aramid).
* Experience/training in health and safety i.e. IOSH/NEBOSH.
* Experience in pressurised systems
* Degree qualified – BEng or foundational with year in industry.
* Project management skills and qualifications.
