Role and service
This post is a bank Residential Support Worker. The staff member will be given shifts on an ad hoc basis; some shifts may be more frequent, others for 36 hours a week for a period of 12 weeks dependent on need. The post will work as part of a team of in-house staff providing support at Orient Street Short Breaks (respite) for adults with learning disabilities and autism (and associated physical disabilities).

Responsibilities
* Provide a person centred, safe, caring, engaging and stimulating environment.
* Support the service to deliver a bespoke service that promotes the wellbeing and rights of every one it supports.
* Support people to develop their skills and independence, to make friends and have a positive and enjoyable stay.
* Support people who need emergency placements or who are experiencing crises, and provide reablement and support to enter new service provision.
* Support the service to deliver a high standard of support, which is evidenced based and outcome focused for both the people we support and their families, facilitating maximum independence, dignity, choice and control, through person centred planning and support.
* Ensure all work undertaken is in line with best practice, regulatory standards, the services and Southwark’s values and policies and procedures.
Service context
The service is a 5 minutes walk from Elephant & Castle. Essential that applicants have experience of working with people with learning disabilities, supporting people with personal care and with behaviours of concern.
Shift details
Day shifts typically 07:00–15:00 or 09:00–17:00 with a 48 minute break; Waking night shifts 21:30–07:30 with a one hour break.
