Purpose of the Role As a Transport Planner at Leader Online, you will be responsible for coordinating the daily planning and execution of customer deliveries, ensuring the most efficient and cost-effective routes are used. You will work closely with the Transport Planner Supervisor, warehouse teams, and customer service to ensure that all transport activities support service level targets and deliver an exceptional customer experience. Requirements Key Responsibilities Route Planning & Coordination Develop daily delivery schedules using OptimoRoute and other Transport Management Systems (TMS). Ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective transport operations, balancing capacity with delivery requirements. Process customer orders accurately for warehouse picking and dispatch. Book deliveries and proactively communicate updates or amendments to customers. Rearrange failed deliveries and manage daily customer notifications. Transport System & Documentation Maintain accurate system records of routing, vehicle assignments, and order status. Use TMS, WMS, spreadsheets, and internal platforms to process data and generate reports. Support data entry, route optimisation, and stock visibility from a transport perspective. Customer Communication Conduct outbound calls and emails to customers for booking confirmations, delivery updates, and addressing access or readiness issues. Liaise with relevant departments to assist with customer delivery-related damage claims. Collaboration & Coordination Work closely with customer service, warehouse, and purchasing teams to align order fulfilment with delivery planning. Update internal teams on the day’s delivery routes, drop volumes, and relevant customer information. Communicate effectively with 3PL partners and internal fleet drivers as needed. Health, Safety & Quality Adhere to all site health and safety policies and procedures. Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Report equipment issues, delivery problems, or route hazards promptly to the supervisor. Performance Expectations Accurately plan routes to support OTIF (On Time In Full) performance and service quality. Maintain system accuracy and timely reporting to support operational transparency. Uphold customer service excellence through clear, proactive communication. Demonstrate initiative in identifying opportunities to optimise efficiency and reduce costs. Essential Skills & Experience Previous experience in a transport planning or logistics coordination role. Proficient computer literacy, including strong Excel and email skills. Experience with Transport Management Systems (TMS) is essential. Strong organisational and analytical skills. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
