The Role

A well-established and inclusive primary school in Bootle, Liverpool, is currently seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This is a full-time role with an ASAP start, supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs and learning barriers.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing needs, and moderate learning difficulties. Support will be provided on both a 1:1 basis and within small group settings, ensuring pupils can access the curriculum in a way that meets their individual learning styles and emotional needs.

This role requires a calm, patient, and proactive individual who understands the importance of consistency, structure, and positive relationships when supporting children with SEN.

Key Responsibilities

As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Bootle, your responsibilities will include:

* Providing 1:1 SEN support for pupils with additional needs

* Supporting small group interventions focusing on literacy, numeracy, communication, and emotional regulation

* Assisting pupils to access lessons alongside their peers

* Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans

* Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, sensory needs, and social interaction

* Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and confidence

* Working collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff

* Supporting pupils during transitions, break times, and lunch periods

* Using visual timetables, sensory resources, and differentiated materials

* Monitoring progress and recording observations

* Supporting personal care where required (training provided if necessary)

* Maintaining a safe, calm, and nurturing learning environment

* Upholding safeguarding and child protection policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The school is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant who:

* Has experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting

* Demonstrates patience, resilience, and emotional intelligence

* Has a strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs

* Is confident supporting challenging behaviour using positive strategies

* Is flexible, proactive, and reliable

* Has strong communication and teamwork skills

* Is available for an immediate start

* Is committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs, sensory integration strategies, or speech and language interventions is highly desirable, though full training and support will be provided.
