About Us
Arnold Hill Spencer Academy is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our experienced and supportive Learning Support team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a vital role within our Inclusion Team, offering the chance to make a real difference in the lives of our students. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with a variety of special educational needs and disabilities, including autism, social, emotional and mental health challenges, and difficulties with literacy or numeracy.
We welcome applicants with experience in areas such as exam access arrangements, mentoring or coaching, a background in sports, or strong subject knowledge in Maths, Science, or English. Flexibility, resilience, and a proactive attitude are essential, as the role involves adapting to the changing needs of our students. Responsibilities
* Support pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, helping them access learning and participate in classroom activities.
* Assist with exam access arrangements, mentoring or coaching, and provide targeted interventions to accelerate learning.
* Collaborate with teaching staff to plan and deliver appropriate support for learners, including small group or one-to-one sessions.
* Promote a respectful and inclusive learning environment, monitor pupil progress, and report concerns to the Inclusion Team.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential Criteria: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent; GCSE Maths and English (A–C) or equivalent; experience in an education setting; experience with students with SEN; experience supporting students with varying emotional needs in small groups or one-to-one.
* Desired Criteria: Evidence of professional development related to SEND in the last two years; behaviour management training; child protection training; understanding of resources to support identified learning needs; experience completing assessments (e.g., for exam access arrangements); experience delivering evidence-based interventions; mentoring experience; experience in a secondary education setting.
