Are you ready to take the next step in your Early Years career?
If you love working with children but are looking for more responsibility, leadership, and the chance to really shape a nursery environment, this could be the perfect role for you.
We are looking for a Deputy Nursery Manager and Room Leader to join our welcoming team at Peterborough College. This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead a room, support your colleagues, and play a key part in the day-to-day running of the nursery. The Deputy Nursery Manager role is covering Maternity leave so will be offered on a full time fixed term contract.
This isn’t a role where you’re stuck behind a desk. You’ll be right in the heart of the action, creating a nurturing, inspiring environment for children aged 0–5, while developing your leadership skills and stepping up to support the overall management of the nursery when needed.
What the role involves
As a Deputy Nursery Manager, you’ll plan and deliver engaging activities that support children’s development and spark their curiosity, ensuring everything aligns with EYFS standards. You’ll guide and support your team day to day, helping them grow in confidence through coaching and regular check-ins.
You’ll build strong relationships with parents, becoming a trusted point of contact, and work closely with colleagues, external professionals, and local authorities to support each child’s needs. Alongside this, you’ll play an important role in the smooth running of the nursery, supporting areas such as safeguarding, resources, and general organisation.
What you’ll bring as a Deputy Nursery Manager
1. A Level 3 childcare qualification (Level 5 is a bonus)
2. Strong experience working with children aged 0–5
3. A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to stay calm under pressure
4. A genuine passion for Early Years and child development
5. Good knowledge of safeguarding and EYFS
6. Confidence to lead a team with kindness, clarity and consistency
Why join us
7. A unique working pattern offering a great work-life balance, including a shorter day at the end of the week
8. 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays and additional discretionary days
9. Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
10. A supportive and friendly team environment
11. Opportunities for career progression and support with further qualifications, including Level 5 or leadership training
12. The chance to make a real difference every day
If you’re someone who enjoys leading by example, supporting others, and creating a positive environment for children to thrive, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and become our next Deputy Nursery Manager
