We currently have an opening for an Operational Technology Maintenance Engineer based in Totnes. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary ranging from £37,450 to £44,940 per annum, plus excellent benefits.
About the role
As our OT Maintenance Engineer, you will repair and maintain critical remote plant and process control systems, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of operational services. Your responsibilities include planned maintenance, responding promptly to operational issues, onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex problems. You will also identify and implement small capital investment schemes to enhance operational resilience, working within established project and change governance frameworks. The technology base is diverse, including sensors, instrumentation, plant networks, PLCs, SCADA, process control, and telemetry.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Carrying out planned and proactive maintenance activities on operational instrumentation and control systems to improve process compliance, reliability, and performance.
2. Providing timely response to operational issues with onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex problems.
3. Participating in a 24/7 standby roster to deliver out-of-hours reactive maintenance services.
4. Collaborating with operational teams such as mechanical and electrical technicians to prioritize and coordinate maintenance tasks.
5. Using technical knowledge to recommend process optimizations and efficiencies.
6. Assisting the OT Maintenance Manager in identifying root causes of plant failures and taking ownership of resolutions.
7. Engaging with regional and standards engineers to ensure compliance with legislation and standards, including UK NIS directives.
8. Undertaking firmware/software updates, patches, and rollouts following best practices.
9. Promoting a health and safety culture, ensuring personal and team compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
What we are looking for:
* Minimum 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Mathematics, English, and a Science subject (or equivalent).
* Relevant industrial control apprenticeship, qualifications, or training.
* Experience with process control and ELV/LV electrical systems.
* Proficiency with PLCs, management, programming, and communication protocols, especially on Schneider platforms.
* Knowledge of instrumentation calibration and maintenance.
* Strong IT skills and a technical mindset.
* Full UK driving license and ability to travel using a company vehicle.
* Ability to complete UK Government Security Clearance (SC) successfully.
