Job responsibilities
Under the operational management of the Head of Digital Infrastructure, the role provides specialist support and analysis of the Trust’s digital security systems, network technical security requirements and security incident events. You will maintain and develop the highest level of IT security, ensuring the Trust’s digital infrastructure and applications comply with best practice and with technical, health‑records, cyber and physical security standards.
You are accountable to the Trust’s Cyber Security Lead and provide assurance that the Trust is operating to industry standards, meeting cyber ethics, NHS national frameworks and codes of conduct. The role will support the Digital Transformation at the Trust by contributing to the security strategy and wider digital programmes.
The Cyber Security Specialist will manage and report on cyber security events, ensuring that audit actions have assigned owners and are followed up within specified time frames. You will operate an internal assurance framework to assess information assets against information‑security controls and identify appropriate action plans.
The post holder will support the development of complex analytical and reporting tools, update and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and lead on trust‑raised cyber security risks and issues. You will work with staff at all levels across the Trust to ensure compliance with the cyber security agenda.
In addition to the specialist duties, you may be required to work in administrative areas as appropriate and, on occasion, manage and supervise external staff such as contractors, agency staff, and external IT vendors.
