An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Oncology Day Unit based at Wansbeck General Hospital. This is one of 5 day units within Northumbria NHS Foundation Healthcare Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has an interest in the Oncology speciality. The successful applicant will be working within a highly motivated, friendly team who will be delivering high quality standards of care.

This post will be working to support the existing team in the safe delivery of holistic care to a wide range of cancer patients undergoing day treatments. Under the direction of the unit manager and senior staff, provide high standards of evidence-based, quality, holistic, nurse-led care to a wide variety of cancer patients and their carers.

Responsibilities
* Support the existing team in the safe delivery of holistic care to a wide range of cancer patients undergoing day treatments.
* Provide high standards of evidence-based, quality, holistic, nurse-led care to cancer patients and their carers under the direction of the unit manager and senior staff.
* Safely administer a wide range of cytotoxic chemotherapy drugs and supportive care to patients, with appropriate training.
* Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape a collective leadership culture within the trust; engage, enable and empower others; use coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement; facilitate team working and collaboration.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Registered nurse with previous experience in looking after people with a cancer diagnosis.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Chemotherapy training will be given; venepuncture, IV drug administration and care of central venous access devices would be an advantage. If chemotherapy training is needed, be willing to undertake formal study to obtain the relevant qualifications as part of development and role.
* Flexible to meet increasingly complex needs of the service; able to work effectively within a small team, with resilience and a sense of humour.
