Working within a dedicated team of engineers and support team, you will investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues, replicate and analyse problems, and support software upgrades and deployments. You will take a proactive approach to identifying potential issues before they escalate and contribute to ongoing improvements across our platforms.Sensus provides the opportunity to contribute to a market-leading organisation at the forefront of smart utility innovation.**Key Responsibilities*** Provide 2nd/3rd line support for both open-source and bespoke software stacks across Linux, Windows and Android.* Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues, coordinating with development teams as needed.* Support software upgrades, including patch testing and deployment for in-house and customer systems.* Proactively monitor application health and performance to maintain system stability.* Collaborate with support teams to ensure effective issue resolution and knowledge sharing.* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain technical documentation/knowledge-base articles, where necessary.**Qualifications & Skills****Required:*** Proven experience in application support, systems administration, or a related technical support/DevOps role.* Strong Linux fundamentals, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)* Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities and high attention to detail.* Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and/or MariaDB (including writing and optimising queries)* Good understanding of core networking protocols (DNS, FTP, HTTP, SSH etc.)* Familiarity with digital certificates, PKI fundamentals and security principles.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* A collaborative team member who adapts quickly, embraces new challenges, and is eager to learn and expand technical skills.**Preferred:*** Experience with Java application stacks.* Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or Subversion.* Knowledge of AWS and Terraform.* Experience with scripting languages such as Bash or Python.* Hands-on experience with VMware, Ansible, Docker, or Kubernetes.* Understanding of the OSI model and broader networking standards.* Knowledge of ITIL or service-management best practices* Full clean UK driving licenceJoin the global Xylem team to be a part of innovative technology solutions transforming water usage, conservation, and re-use.
