The role
Join us within the R2R Centre of Excellence (COE) team on our journey to shape the future of finance as we focus on continuous improvement, technical expertise and innovation where we will have the opportunity to deploy modern technology in a way that we have not been able to do before. This role is for a Finance Manager within our Energy Customer Solutions (ECS) team; you will initially oversee the financial control within the Centre of Excellence. Your responsibilities will include delivering a smooth month end general ledger close, managing key account reconciliations and ensuring compliance with external statutory financial reporting requirements. You’ll take the lead on annual statutory audits, collaborating closely with external auditors and members of the ECS finance within the business unit. As part of the centre of excellence, you will work collaboratively alongside other finance team members to drive best practices in reporting and processes across SSE Finance.
You will
* Lead the month end process, ensuring accuracy through the review and approval of key journals.
* Manage, mentor, and develop accountants and finance analysts to achieve their full potential.
* Take ownership of year end and half year processes, including the preparation and audit of statutory accounts.
* Ensure compliance with Group financial control policies, including oversight of balance sheet reconciliations.
* Oversee the seamless transition of completed development projects into the operational portfolio, while continuously improving processes to meet financial control requirements.
You have
* A professional accounting qualification with practice or industry experience, in addition to up-to-date knowledge of IFRS and FRS101 accounting standards.
* Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team through effective planning, organisation, and prioritisation of tasks.
* Ability to deliver high quality financial statements and liaise with auditors. Strong analytical skills with ability to research, understand and resolve a wide range of finance issues.
* Excellent time management skills to balance competing deadlines and deliverables across diverse stakeholders, along with the ability to manage expectations and adapt to changing business needs.
* A solid understanding of core financial systems and general accounting procedures, coupled with flexibility, professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering quality work under pressure.
