Job Description
Your main duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Cefas are growing our impact in the UK and overseas creating new demands for our Finance Team to apply the new technologies and data skills to build efficient and effective business support solutions as well as proactive strategic planning. We expect this to include new investment in our core systems and processes.

The Role Involves:

* Working in a dynamic and supportive finance environment, using finance systems, sound Excel skills and wider data and AI orientated solutions.
* Delivering high quality and transparent internal and external reporting including producing the financial statements for the Annual Report and Accounts.
* Lead with external audit over the audit period to ensure smooth progression of the Annual Report and Accounts to meet the laying timetable.
* Acting as a subject expert, providing technical accounting advice in line with IFRS and the financial reporting manual (FReM) and other relevant Government guidance documents.
* Producing valued and timely management financial reporting and Business Planning outputs.
* Lead and review of VAT and other statutory returns.
* Completion of monthly Defra group reporting packs.
* Analysing current processes to identify and implement ways to improve processes and financial control.
* Proudly providing excellent customer service.
* Building and maintaining our Cefas Values through respectful, working relationships with all our colleagues, funding partners and suppliers and enhancing our equity, diversity and inclusivity.

We additionally expect colleagues to continue to develop and grow their duties and responsibilities, commensurate with their grade.

In addition, Cefas reserves the right to ask staff to take on additional duties and responsibilities which are commensurate with their grade. Management will have a discussion with staff to explain the changes that are to be made. A new job description will be issued if required.

Person specification

*Person Specification And Essential Criteria Section:*
The following are essential criteria required for this role and you must be able to demonstrate your skills and experience in the following areas:

* Experienced in developing collaborative relationships with key stakeholders e.g. Strategic Finance, Finance Business Partners, Network Bodies, External Audit.
* Empower their team to make decisions and have open conversations to lead improvement.
* Ability to react to change and manage emerging priorities to tight deadlines, respond to varying situations in a professional manner.
* Proven technical knowledge of accounting standards, processes, policies, internal controls and assurances.
* Proven team leadership management and people development, supporting all professional training and personal growth needs
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, etc) or working towards one of the above qualifications.

Sift

Location
Please be aware that this role will be contractually based at Lowestoft. The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.

Successful candidates are expected to work from one of the laboratory or office locations listed in this advert in order to connect with their colleagues, as required by their role and business needs.

Office Attendance
