Main duties: We are looking for two highly motivated Data Delivery Project Managers who will support the delivery of the Wessex SDE (Secure Data Environment) and the Southampton Emerging Therapies and Technologies (SETT) Centre, scaling data for research across the region and nationally.


About The Team

* The SETT Data & AI Research Unit is the data science arm of the hospital, developing data pipelines to extract clinical data (structured data, clinical letters, images, genomics) from clinical data systems for provision to the SDE. The team works closely with R&D to ensure all data contracts, funding, governance and sponsorship is in place.
* UHS hosts the Wessex Secure Data Environment (SDE), part of a national programme aimed at maximizing the use of NHS data, providing safer, more secure, and faster access to different types of NHS data and ensuring consistent standards and interoperability. The SDE is managed by CIRU, our University of Southampton partner.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

These Data Delivery Project Management posts will manage a range of projects, establishing data pipelines across the Wessex SDE footprint and leading large‑scale commercial and academic data projects.

* Manage delivery of technical enablement and healthcare research projects, data marts and data pipelines.
* Work with stakeholders across Wessex (NHS acute, community and GP data providers) liaising with clinical, technical and senior management teams.
* Liaise with SETT Data, R&D and CIRU personnel.
* Coordinate and deliver national projects with SDE network and wider national groups (e.g. BRC, genomics Networks, NHS England).
* Establish and operate programme and project governance.


What you will do

* Work autonomously to lead and deliver projects using methodologies where appropriate.
* Create Project Initiation Document, stakeholder map, project plan, RAID log, RACI matrix.
* Develop comms and engagement plans and weekly highlight reports.
* Use software tools (ZoHo, ClickUp, EDGE, Excel, Word) for project management.
* Document risk and issues, managing or escalating as appropriate.
* Report to senior management and boards.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience


Essential criteria

* Relevant Bachelor Degree (Tech, Business, Change) or equivalent specialist knowledge and experience.
* Master's or equivalent specialist knowledge and experience.
* Recognised Project Management qualification to practitioner level or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge and practical experience of managing and delivering full project lifecycle of medium projects.
* Practical experience presenting complex and technical information to internal and external groups.
* Project management skills using multiple methodologies (waterfall and agile).
* Knowledge of creating, reviewing, updating, and reporting standard project artefacts.
* Knowledge of analysing complex technical information and presenting to diverse audiences.
* Knowledge of identifying, sourcing, assimilating and applying clinical, system, setting specific technical knowledge.
* Knowledge of identifying complex project risks and issues and developing detailed mitigation strategies.
* Understanding of relevant legislation and guidance.


Desirable criteria

* Recognised relevant change management qualifications.
* Other project and change management training courses.
* Staff management training courses.
* Experience delivering change projects of various sizes in NHS contexts.
* Evidence of recent further professional development.
