Job Overview
We’re seeking a skilled and safety‑focused Control Systems Engineer to play a key role in the operation and oversight of high‑voltage electrical systems up to 400kV. This position is vital to ensuring that all activities are completed in full alignment with the applicable Operational Safety Rules and that system performance and safety standards are consistently upheld.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for controlling and monitoring the overall electrical system both onshore and offshore, while coordinating the work of Senior Authorised Persons. You’ll manage the consent process for releasing plant and apparatus, along with the preparation and cancellation of safety documentation. The position also involves approving and issuing switching schedules and overseeing cross‑boundary switching activities with external stakeholders including National Grid, distribution network operators, and generators.
You’ll be working closely with operational leads to support the development and maintenance of Local Management Instructions, keeping procedures clear, accurate, and fully compliant with safety requirements. Ensuring documentation remains up to date and aligned with Operational Safety Rules will be an essential part of the role.
To operate effectively, you’ll participate in all required training and authorisation processes to achieve and maintain the necessary certifications. You’ll also support the Commissioning Manager by contributing to the specification and procurement of approved tools and equipment needed to implement operational rules safely across all environments.
