Business Analyst
Location: Northampton ,UK
Duration: 6 months
Overall Purpose of the Role:
As a Business Analyst within our Global Transaction Banking team, you will act as the vital link between operational business areas and project delivery. Your primary focus is to translate complex business needs into actionable requirements while navigating a shifting methodology landscape (Agile/Waterfall).
This is a Functional BA role, meaning you will focus on operational requirements and business processes rather than pure system architecture. You will be responsible for ensuring that all solutions are robust, compliant with risk and control frameworks, and aligned with our Target Operating Model (TOM).
Key Accountabilities:
* Requirement Elicitation: Lead workshops to extract complex requirements from stakeholders who may not yet have a clear vision of their needs. You will be expected to challenge assumptions and recommend changes based on operational necessity.
* Agile Documentation: Author high-quality User Stories and Acceptance Criteria within Jira and Confluence, ensuring they are ready for development and testing.
* Risk & Control Management: Proactively identify, log, and mitigate risks. You must ensure all decisions and process designs adhere to strict control principles, pushing back on the business when expectations conflict with safety and soundness.
* Process Engineering: Map As-Is and To-Be processes to support the delivery of a new Target Operating Model (TOM) for specific banking functions.
* End-to-End Delivery: Manage the functional requirements throughout the entire project lifecycle, ensuring a seamless transition from initial concept to operational go-live.
Key Skills :
* Stakeholder Influence: Proven ability to "get through" to stakeholders, utilizing persistent communication (calls, workshops, and 1:1s) to drive consensus.
* Technical Literacy: Expert-level proficiency in Jira and Confluence for requirement tracking and documentation.
* Methodology Versatility: Strong understanding of both Agile and Waterfall frameworks, with the ability to help the team navigate an ongoing transition toward Agile.
* Risk Awareness: A "risk-first" mindset with experience identifying control gaps and implementing mitigation strategies within a project context.
* Analytical Thinking: Ability to translate high-level business goals into detailed functional and operational requirements.
About Barclays

Everything Barclays does is shaped by its five values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship. The Barclays values inform the foundations of its relationships with customers and clients, but they also shape how Barclays measures and rewards the performance of colleagues. Diversity
Barclays aims to foster a culture where individuals of all backgrounds feel confident in bringing their whole selves to work, feel included and their talents are nurtured, empowering them to contribute fully to Barclays vision and goals.
Hybrid Working
Barclays is currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Barclays is flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. Barclays also has a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances
