The Role
As an Accounts Assistant Manager, you will support the delivery of accounting and advisory services to a diverse client portfolio. Key responsibilities include:
Core Responsibilities
* Preparing and reviewing financial statements for companies, groups, partnerships, and other entities
* Managing and reviewing year‑end working paper files
* Supervising, mentoring, and training junior staff
* Supporting senior leaders on bespoke advisory projects, including elements of corporate finance
* Taking ownership of assignments from planning through to final reporting
* Managing relationships with a small client portfolio, with scope to grow this over time
* Performing variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
* Assisting auditors with year‑end queries
* Ensuring high‑quality, accurate work with meticulous attention to detail
* Contributing to improvements in processes, team operations, and wider firm initiatives
* Staying up to date with accounting, auditing, and compliance developments
Qualifications & Experience
* Fully ACCA or ACA qualified (or equivalent)
* Previous experience in an accountancy practice environment
* Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards (FRS / IFRS)
* An interest in corporate finance and business advisory work
* Experience preparing consolidated accounts and/or charity accounts (desirable)
* Familiarity with cloud‑based accounting software (e.g., Xero, CCH) is beneficial
* Strong Excel and IT skills
