An established and well‑respected organisation in South Wales is seeking a Finance Assistant to join their growing finance function. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive team, gain exposure to a wide range of financial processes, and contribute to the ongoing development of thepany’s finance operations.
Your new role
As a Finance Assistant, you will support day‑to‑day financial operations and collaborate closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers. This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys accuracy, problem‑solving, and maintaining well‑organised financial records.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide documentation to auditors for year‑end queries related to supplier and customer invoices.
2. Support the reconciliation of trade debtors and sales ledger control accounts, investigating differences.
3. Assist with reconciling trade creditors and purchase ledger control accounts, including matching supplier payments and posting credit notes.
4. Process supplier invoices through accounting systems (Xero and Breww).
5. Upload system‑generated invoices to customer portals.
6. Reconcile Goods Received Notes (GRNs) to invoices, resolving discrepancies with suppliers.
7. Prepare and process weekly BACS payment runs for senior review.
8. Prepare and process weekly Direct Debit collections.
9. Create and maintain supplier and customer accounts, including credit limits and payment terms.
10. Maintain and update the debt and arrears report, ensuring customer data remains accurate and reliable.
11. Manage supplier queries and liaise with internal teams to ensure issues are resolved promptly.
12. Support debt‑collection procedures when needed.
13. Assist the Management Accountant with month‑end processes.
14. Provide flexible support on ad‑hoc finance projects.
15. Process quarterly VAT returns using Xero.
What you'll need to succeed
16. Experience within a finance function handling similar responsibilities.
17. Strong organisational skills and confidence prioritising workload.
18. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
19. Clear and confidentmunication skills when dealing with suppliers and internal teams.
20. Experience with Excel, Outlook, Word, and accounting systems such as Xero (Breww desirable).
21. A motivated, proactive approach and desire to support the wider business.
22. An AAT qualification is desirable but not essential.
