Gas Safe & Mechanical Pipe Fitters – Job Description
We are recruiting skilled and semi-skilled pipe fitters for various sites, including Colchester, Ipswich, Harwich, Witham and other areas.
Responsibilities
* Install cable trays, ladder racking, uni‑strut supports and brackets for pipework.
* Fabricate 2‑4 inch and 6‑8 inch pipework, prepare pipe butts and flanges for welding.
* Weld pipework to coded specifications using TIG or MMA; fit and weld gas pipework.
* Complete pipe tests and perform checks.
* Connect pipework to panels, valves, manifolds, using general and PID engineering drawings.
* Fit screwed, Maypress and small‑bore compression pipework.
* Install mechanical systems on machinery and erect fitting steelwork platforms on food factory sites.
* Operate IPAF Scissor Lift/Cherry Picker.
Hours, Term and Pay
Hours of work: 07:00‑19:00 Mon‑Fri, 07:00‑16:30 Sat, Sun if required.
Term of work: 2‑4 weeks with potential extension based on attendance, performance and workload.
Pay: Skilled – £26 per hour Mon‑Fri; £31 per hour Sat; £35 per hour Sun.
Lodging: Hotel and meals paid for workers living more than 60 miles from site.
Travel may be required for non‑local sites, with accommodation and meals paid by the company when needed for 3‑5 nights a week.
