We're looking for someone to help us get our data in shape.
We're a 500-person automotive business covering procurement, vehicle refurbishment, and sales and our data capability is early days. It's messy, it's fragmented, and we know we need to do better.
This isn't about building fancy dashboards. It's about making data actually useful across the whole operation.
What the role involves:
You'd be splitting your time between:
* Creating things people can understand and actually use
* Connecting data across procurement, refurb operations, and sales
Working with the business:
* Spending time with teams across the operation - buyers, workshop staff, sales teams, managers
* Understanding what they need, what's frustrating them, what would help
* Building solutions together, not just handing things down
* Seeing how the whole flow works - from buying to refurbing to selling
Shaping the future:
* Working directly with the CEO on what matters most
* Planning how we'll handle data properly as we grow
* Making sure we build something sustainable
This is an office-based role (with time across different sites/departments)
You can't do this remotely. You need to:
* See how work actually happens across procurement, operations, and sales
* Build trust with teams across the whole business
* Understand how the pieces connect
* Create things that get used, not ignored
If you need remote flexibility, this isn't the right role.
If you think the best data work comes from understanding the whole business - keep reading.
You'd be a good fit if:
* SQL is second nature to you
* You've built data products that people actually adopted
* You care about solving problems, not just technical elegance
* You're comfortable talking to anyone - workshop staff to buyers to directors
* You can work without everything being perfectly defined
* You talk about business impact, not just what you delivered
* You enjoy understanding how different parts of a business connect
You probably won't enjoy this if:
* You want clear requirements and clean data
* You prefer working independently rather than collaboratively
* You like structure and established processes
* You want remote-first working
* You only want to focus on one specific area
What success looks like:
* Leadership can make decisions with confidence across buying, refurbing, and selling
* Teams across the operation trust and use what you've built
* We can see how the whole business flows - not just individual departments
* Data stops being a bottleneck
* We've got a proper foundation to build on
Interested?
* Something you built that created real value (what changed?)
* How you've worked with teams to understand what they need
