Job summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join the Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team based at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, with outreach work across the South West of England.

As part of this forward‑thinking and innovative team you will be responsible for the delivery of a highly specialised Occupational Therapy service to children and young people under the care of the Rheumatology service and will be instrumental in the continued provision and development of this service. You will also be a valued member of the small but specialist OT team, providing clinical support and education to Band 6 and 5 Occupational Therapists.

We are looking for an innovative, inclusive clinician who is passionate about delivering a high‑quality patient‑centred service, someone with advanced skills, who is confident to challenge current practice and ensure that our patients receive up‑to‑date evidence‑based treatments. In‑service training programmes and staff appraisal systems are in operation to support your development to enable you to meet the demands of the post.

Main duties of the job

To provide a highly specialised Occupational Therapy service including the assessment, treatment and management of children and young people with rheumatological conditions, across the South West.

To be a core member of the Rheumatology MDT, assisting in the development, planning and progression of service provision, working across and within traditional professional and organisational boundaries in hospital.

To act as a source of expertise and demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in the highly skilled management of children presenting with inflammatory and non‑inflammatory joint conditions.

To provide specialist advice and clinical education to other members of the multi‑disciplinary team, presenting at local, national and international meetings.

To support the wider Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team as required.
