Job Description

New Directions Education is currently recruiting a passionate and committed Humanities Teacher to work in a good secondary school in Southport, supporting pupils from a range of backgrounds, including a high proportion of Pupil Premium learners.

1. A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Southport, catering to pupils aged 11–18.
2. The school serves a diverse community and supports pupils facing social and economic disadvantage.
3. Strong emphasis on pastoral care, equality, and raising aspirations for all learners.

The Role

4. Deliver high-quality Humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to contribute to KS5 provision.
5. Plan engaging lessons that develop knowledge, understanding and critical thinking across Humanities disciplines.

The Ideal Candidate

6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
7. Experience teaching Humanities in a secondary school setting is desirable.
8. Able to deliver KS3 and KS4 Humanities topics such as history, geography, and citizenship, including key concepts such as migration, conflict, sustainability, government and global issues, and support students in developing analytical and evaluative skills.
9. Strong understanding of strategies to support Pupil Premium students and close attainment gaps.
10. Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service, if not already done.
11. Must have employment references covering the last 5 years.
