Hays are currently working with a well‑established subcontractor delivering technical construction packages. They are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team on an initial 3‑month freelance contract, with a strong opportunity to move into a permanent position should this suit your longer‑term career plans.This role is office based near Thetford, with hybrid working available once you are fully up to speed and would suit a QS with proven experience operating within a specialist subcontractor environment.
Your New Role
You will play a key role in supporting themercial delivery of live projects, managing specialist packages from amercial perspective. Duties will include:
1. Preparation, submission and agreement of valuations
2. Management of variations and change control
3. Cost reporting, forecasting and final accounts
4. Liaising closely with project teams, main contractors and external stakeholders
5. Supportingmercial decision‑making and risk management on technically detailed projects
What You’ll Need to Succeed
6. Previous experience working for a subcontractor (essential)
7. Background in managing specialist or trade‑focused packages
8. Strong knowledge of valuations, variations andmercial reporting
9. Ability to work proactively in a fast‑paced project environment
10. Confidentmunication skills and strongmercial awareness
