An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Out of Hours (OOH) Veterinary Surgeon to join a highly respected Tier 3 small animal hospital in Nottinghamshire. This is a fantastic role for a vet seeking an attractive work-life balance, a varied caseload, and the support of an experienced, certificate-led team working within a well-equipped hospital environment. The Role We are seeking a permanent OOH Veterinary Surgeon to support the inpatient and emergency caseload. The role involves: Caring for and working up any inpatients Receiving and managing out-of-hours emergency calls Covering a one-week-on, two-weeks-off rota (Monday evening to the following Monday morning); open to flexibility on other rota arrangements Working alongside a dedicated OOH nursing team who share the same rota Use of a nearby semi-detached house solely for OOH accommodation during working weeks This rota structure provides an excellent work-life balance, with significant downtime between working weeks. The Caseload & Clinical Team The hospital supports: A varied mix of first-opinion cases and referral-level work A large multidisciplinary team including numerous certificate holders Vets with advanced qualifications or studying towards certificates in Surgery, Internal Medicine, Imaging, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesia, Dermatology, Endoscopy, and more The surgical team routinely performs: BOAS procedures TPLO/CCWO and patella surgery Fracture repairs Cholecystectomy Liver lobe resections TECA surgery Complementary services such as laser therapy, acupuncture, and physiotherapy are also available.
