A client of ours in the Witham area are recruiting a Procurement and Logistics Officer to join their team on a full-time maternity cover contract (37 hours per week) for up to 12 months. This role is expected to start towards the end of January 2026 and is paying £34,000 - £36,000 per annum depending on experience.
This position is working Monday - Thursday, 8.30am - 5.00pm and Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm, with a 1-hour lunch each day.
Key Duties include but are not limited to:
Procurement & Supply Chain
Raising and managing purchase orders in line with demand, forecasts and stock levels.
Maintaining optimum inventory levels, including MOQ and safety stock planning.
Investigating supply issues, shortages and delivery discrepancies.
Building strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams across production, finance and customer service.
Supporting invoice queries, credits and weekly/month-end purchasing tasks.
Monitoring supplier performance and ensuring compliance with agreements.
Contributing to cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.Planning & Coordination
Assisting with production scheduling based on customer orders, capacity and material availability.
Updating ERP/MRP systems with accurate scheduling and availability information.
Preparing reports, forecasts and KPIs for internal stakeholders.
Escalating issues that may impact customer delivery or capacity.Logistics Support
Assisting with transport planning, delivery scheduling and route coordination.
Supporting fleet administration including documentation, compliance checks and driver communication (training will be provided).
Liaising with external logistics partners when required.
Producing and maintaining delivery notes and associated administration.General Administration
Completing documentation, scanning, data entry and general system updates.
Ensuring all work aligns with quality, health & safety and environmental standards.
Skills and Experience required to be considered for this Procurement and Logistics Officer position:
Minimum 3 years' experience in purchasing and procurement, supply chain or production planning.
Strong understanding of stock control, lead times and supplier management.
Confident user of Excel with the ability to learn new systems quickly (MRP/ERP experience essential).
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and trends.
Experience in logistics, transport planning or fleet coordination (desirable, not essential - training provided).
Proactive, methodical and able to work under tight deadlines.
