Automotive Technical Account Manager

This role sits at the intersection of technical consultancy and strategic account management, selling engineered, specification-led solutions into automotive OEM and Tier 1/2 environments. Long sales cycles. High validation standards. Senior stakeholders only.

The Role
You will own and grow a defined portfolio of automotive OEM and Tier 1/2 accounts, while driving new business across the automotive and EV sector. You are expected to operate independently, manage complex stakeholders, and materially impact revenue and product strategy.
Key Responsibilities
* Own and expand a UK-wide portfolio of automotive OEM and Tier 1/2 accounts
* Identify, qualify, and close new business within automotive and EV markets
* Execute structured account and territory plans aligned to revenue targets
* Manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting to contract close
* Act as a technical advisor on engineered sealing solutions and materials
* Support customers through design-in, validation, testing, and ramp-up
* Deliver technical presentations to engineering and procurement teams
* Conduct regular on-site visits to uncover growth opportunities
* Track market trends, competitors, and customer feedback
* Feed structured insight into product development and portfolio planning
* Maintain accurate CRM, forecasting, and pipeline reporting
Ideal Background
* Proven technical sales experience within automotive or engineered products
* Strong exposure to specification-led sales with long decision cycles
* Experience selling into OEMs and Tier 1/2 suppliers
* Technically credible with engineers and commercially sharp with buyers
* Structured, disciplined, and accountable for results
* Comfortable working autonomously in a home-based role
Requirements
* HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
* Demonstrable success in consultative or technical sales
* Full UK driving licence
* Right to work in the UK
* Willingness to travel regularly
