Controls & Instrumentation Engineer - Hybrid (Ilkley + Some UK Travel)
An established process engineering firm is looking for a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to join their team. This is a hybrid role with a 50/50 split between project delivery and customer support, offering variety and technical depth.
Responsibilities
Capital Projects
* Design control systems for fans, pumps, valves, dampers, and instrumentation
* Specify and manage subcontractors for panel build, software, and installation
* Ensure electrical compliance with EN60204, ISO 13849, and IEC 62061
* Support commissioning and handover on customer sites
* Produce documentation including FDS, schematics, cable schedules and panel layouts
Customer Support
* On-site testing, calibration and troubleshooting of control systems
* Maintain support contracts and respond to breakdowns and service calls
* Regular UK travel to customer sites, with flexibility on working location
Requirements
* HNC or above in Electrical Engineering
* 3+ years in electrical/control design or automation
* Strong understanding of PLCs, VSDs, and safety systems
* Experience producing technical documentation from P&IDs and I/O lists
* Able to manage site visits, testing, and commissioning
* Clean UK driving licence
Nice to Have
* Experience in thermal processes, printing, food, or paper industries
* Familiar with MS Office and electrical design software (AutoCAD, EPlan, etc.)
* Confident working independently and with clients directly
