* **Compliance -** Operate within, support and contribute to the compliance agenda of the laboratory (e.g. H&S, Finance, Environment).* **Packaging & Novel Materials Testing SME -** Experience of the packaging materials used across the beverage alcohol industry and experience of testing these materials. Knowledge of development of emerging/ novel materials, risk management and test method development. Positivity, curiosity, ownership and confidence to work in novel material development.* **Component Testing** - Expert knowledge of packaging test methods, equipment maintenance and method development. Carries out testing in the laboratory. Diageo Design for Quality- understanding of component use within Diageo processes especially component-to-component and component machine interfaces. Ability to carry out full materials risk assessment for prediction of potential risks and development of suitable mitigation.* **Project Management** - Ability to manage complex projects and programmes. Comfortable working with ambiguity and shaping this into deliverable project landmarks.* **Communication -** Ability to translate science into motivating and influential stakeholder communication. Ownership and awareness to act on business benefits, commercials, risks and opportunities.* **Support** - Ability to apply technical knowledge and experience to lead solutions to complex and urgent technical problems.* As a minimum at entry level the jobholder should be degree qualified in scientific or engineering field. Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a materials production or suitable laboratory.* Extensive experience of production and testing of materials used in the food and drink packaging.
