OverviewPrincipal / Associate Electrical Engineers - Data Centres (Building Services) role at WSP. Location: Glasgow or Edinburgh. Focus on the Data Centre sector with our Mission Critical Facilities team. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.ResponsibilitiesCandidates will support the team in developing conceptual designs for electrical distribution systems from EHV, HV, MV to Low Voltage incorporating high voltage equipment, generation equipment, UPS plant, low voltage switchgear and power control and monitoring systemsProvide advice to clients regarding electrical systems/requirements available to meet their business needs.Leading the design of data centre electrical systems and equipmentProvide written reports of system options in the form of design development notes.Produce technical specifications for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirementsEnsure coordination with other disciplines including Architect and Structural engineersProduce calculations, technical/equipment specification documentation for tender.Monitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with employers’ requirements, design specifications and all relevant safety codes.Be comfortable in a client facing role discussing technical subjects with the ability to discuss and agree client requirements.Work independently and as part of the WSP global project team.QualificationsChartered status with CIBSE or IET (or working towards Chartered status) or equivalent experienceTechnical knowledge of relevant UK & EU regulations, design guides, etcIT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages i.e. Trimble (formally Amtech)An understanding of the ETAP software package for HV modelling (Fault current, current flow & harmonics)An understanding of the Neher-McGrath method of calculating underground cable temperatures & ampacityAn understanding of the Tier classifications as defined by The Uptime institute, TIA942 and EN50600Able to work as part of a team as well as ability to effectively lead, direct and mentor individualsHave understanding of working with RevitMEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.Have working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.Must be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC)Electrical design skillsLarge Power (11Kv) Distribution SystemsElectrical Building Load AssessmentsStandby Generation and UPSFire/Voice Alarm and Security SystemsData Centres and Financial Services EstablishmentsLighting Design (internal and external)LiftsCombined Heat and Power PlantWith us, you can.
