<div><h3>Job Description</h3><p>The Department of Optometry is two years into a new innovative four-year undergraduate Masters in Optometry to replace the current three-year Bachelors in Optometry course.</p><p>We are looking for two enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join us as an Assistant Professor (Grade 9) in Optometry and as an Assistant or Associate Professor in Optometry (Grade 9/10 depending on experience) to make significant contributions to the implementation of our new teaching and learning strategy, and/or academic research. The ideal candidates will have clinical as well as academic expertise and a track record of research in optometry and related topics although candidates with a more clinical and/or teaching focus will also be considered.</p><h3>The Postholder Will</h3><ul><li>Undertake research-informed teaching and teaching related activities, to be agreed with the Head of Department.</li><li>Plan, deliver and assess innovative, engaging and challenging teaching activities which provide a distinctive and exceptional student experience.</li><li>Ensure teaching is research-led with subject content underpinned by relevant specialist research.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications / Experience</h3><ul><li>PhD (or equivalent) in optometry, or a relevant subject area OR an Honours degree (or equivalent) in optometry or a related degree, coupled with registration with the General Optical Council.</li><li>Candidates for the Associate Professor role will be expected to possess a PhD (or equivalent) in optometry, or a relevant subject area.</li><li>Registration with the General Optical Council is preferred but not mandatory.</li><li>Advance HE fellow or a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice, or a commitment to obtaining this following appointment.</li></ul></div>
