Finance Data Sourcing DirectorJR037590GlasgowThe Finance Data team owns the Data Quality Governance framework for the Finance Division. The team promotes best practices for data management with a focus on data quality. The team has global coverage and interacts with members across all areas of the Firm, including Finance, Operations, Institutional Securities, Firm Risk, Wealth Management, Technology, and external stakeholders.This is a Director level position within our Data Management Job Family which is responsible for supporting data management across Finance including data sourcing, execution of data quality controls, data issues management & data governance.The Finance Data Sourcing and Lineage team is responsible for managing the authoritative sourcing of data into the Finance Data Warehouse (FDW) from data authorities and enabling the adoption of FDW data by Finance in line with Global Data Quality Policy and BCBS 239. The Firmwide principles establish and communicate best practices to effectively manage data, to assess the impact of data challenges, and to prioritize the remediation of issues related to data across the Firm. The aim is to source and catalogue complete and accurate data from authoritative sources ensuring the data is 'fit for purpose'.Given the heightened focus on adequate data quality governance, this is a growing team in the Glasgow office and presents a great opportunity to help shape the function going forward and gain exposure to a wide range of functions, products, and management across Morgan Stanley.In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm's financial and capital resources. This is a Director level position within the Data Management job family.Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.What you'll do in the role:Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the FirmResponsible for and lead aspects of individual and team deliverables and projects, leveraging in-depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segmentsAdhere to the Firm's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls; proactively identify ways to reduce risk in workAct as a culture carrier; embody and set an example of the Firm's values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standardsLead data sourcing and governance initiatives aligned to BCBS 239Define and validate authoritative data sources and data lineagePartner with Technology and Finance to deliver sourcing platformsDrive data quality governance and remediation strategiesEngage senior stakeholders across Finance functionsOversee data issue root cause analysisSupport development of governance artefacts including data dictionaries and controlsLead and mentor junior team membersContribute to the preparation of executive-level materials and updatesWhat you'll bring to the role:In-depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment and technical skills, as well as of industry and competitive environmentAbility to operate independently with respect to most job responsibilitiesAbility to provide positive and constructive feedback and innovate processesExperience in data sourcing and governance in Financial ServicesStrong stakeholder management and senior engagement skillsAdvanced analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesProven project management experienceGood understanding of financial products and data domainsKnowledge of data governance frameworks and controlsExcellent communication and presentation skillsStrong leadership and organizational capabilityAdvanced Excel and PowerPoint skillsAccounting / Finance background desirableAgile and tooling experience (e.g. Alteryx, PowerBI, SQL, RALLY) desirableAt least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role#LI-CM1 #LI-Hhybrid #GLACCWHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY:At Morgan Stanley, we raise, manage and allocate capital for our clients – helping them reach their goals.
